What is acrylic lace overlay?

Acrylic lace overlay is a spray-applied decorative coating system designed for concrete pool decks, patios, and walkways. A base coat bonds to the existing concrete, then a lace texture coat is sprayed on to create a slip-resistant, patterned surface.

The finish is sealed with a UV-stable acrylic sealer in your choice of color — giving you a fresh, uniform look that stays cool underfoot and holds up to Phoenix summers.

How the process works

Surface Preparation

We clean and diamond-grind the entire surface to open the concrete and ensure proper adhesion. All dust and debris are vacuumed away before any coating is applied.

Bond Coat

The Preferred Deck Systems bond coat is rolled onto the prepared surface. This critical step promotes adhesion between the existing concrete and the overlay system.

Scratch Coat

A thin layer of additive-and-aggregate mixture is troweled on to create a uniform, level base across the entire deck. This fills minor imperfections and sets the stage for the texture coat.

Texture Coat

The acrylic additive-and-aggregate mixture is applied to build the selected decorative lace texture. This coat creates the signature slip-resistant pattern that performs in wet conditions.

Color and Sealer

The pigmented color sealer you selected is applied as the final coat. It protects the surface from UV exposure and wear while delivering the finished color and sheen.
