How the installation works
A 5-step process following Preferred Deck Coating Systems specifications
Surface Preparation
We diamond-grind the entire deck surface and vacuum all dust and debris. Any cracks, spalls, or low spots are repaired before coating begins. Proper prep is the single most important factor in coating longevity.
Bond Coat
A penetrating acrylic bond coat is applied to the prepared concrete. This primer layer chemically keys the subsequent coats to the substrate and prevents delamination — critical in Arizona's extreme heat cycles.
Scratch Coat
A textured scratch coat is applied over the bond coat. This layer builds the foundation for the lace texture and ensures a uniform base across the entire deck surface.
Texture Coat
The lace texture coat is spray-applied in your chosen pattern and density. This is the layer that creates the characteristic slip-resistant surface and gives the deck its finished look.
Color and Sealer
A UV-stable acrylic sealer in your selected color is applied as the final coat. The sealer locks in the texture, protects against moisture and UV degradation, and delivers the finished color you chose from our palette.
